Paula Hare

Paula Hare is a contemporary representational oil painter whose work captures the stories and images that are familiar but often passed by. Based in her Grafton, Wisconsin studio, she focuses on light and the stories that her paintings reveal.  Her paintings also explore the intersection of rural life and the quiet intensity of nighttime, creating a serene and intimate space for the viewer to look closer.

Through her use of fine brushwork, Paula Hare transforms everyday subjects into immersive visual experiences. Each piece is a testament to her process, where the soft texture of the linen substrate and the richness of the oil paint tell a story of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic vision.

Process

ARTists STUDIO / 2027

Paula Hare’s creative process is a meticulous dialogue between light and structure. Each oil painting begins with a foundational sketch, followed by layers of thick impasto that capture the tactile essence of the subject. In her studio, the interplay of warm ivory highlights and deep charcoal shadows creates an atmospheric field where every brushstroke serves a structural purpose. This method ensures that the final work is not only visually striking but also a profound exploration of form and atmospheric depth.
